Avery Sunshine
Avery Sunshine is an enigmatic artist, performer and composer. Avery Sunshine combines jazz from the soul genre with R&B in a distinct blend. Sunshine has performed everywhere from Broadway to The Democratic National Convention to the European music scene and the club scenes. Sunshine's her name as Denise White. While she resides in Atlanta however, she comes from Chester Pennsylvania where she began the musical path by singing and playing the piano in the church. Following her graduation from Spellman College, Atlanta she began her music career on Atlanta's R&B entertainment scene. The Fighting Temptations The single which featured her vocals Stalk You a House 12, was released only in Japan. The song has been re-mixed several times, and it's a major part of her live performances. She has also contributed her voice on the soundtrack to The Fighting Temptations. In 2005, she was the keyboardist in Tyler Perry's stage production Meet the Browns. Jennifer Holliday, a Grammy and Tony Award winning vocalist who has worked on stage production Dreamgirls in the National Black Arts Festival of Atlanta in 2007, approached her to be the director of choral for the stage production. Sunshine was the subject of national media attention in the course of four consecutive performances at the 2008 Democratic National Convention and was eventually invited to sing for the inauguration of President Obama in 2009.
